About Music Talks

Music Talks is taking a break. Further information will be posted here in due course, so please log in from time to time.

It is quite untrue that British people don’t appreciate music. They may not
understand it but they absolutely love the noise it makes.

Sir Thomas Beecham

Music Talks is a small organisation which presents lecture-recital series and one-off musical events.  We select our specialist presenters not just for their knowledge but also for their outstanding communication skills and infectious enthusiasm, ensuring that you need no prior knowledge of music to enjoy the sessions.  Using live performance and recorded extracts, our presenters take you behind the notes of a piece, into the composer’s circumstances, the historical context, other art forms, and social trends. They explore the sounds and structure of the chosen work, explain its building blocks, and offer aural ‘signposts’ to make your listening an even more enjoyable and rewarding experience.  All courses provide extensive on-line materials for members through the website.
